Talk about durability, the Coleman twin bulb lantern we have owned for 45 years, finally gave up the ghost after a horrific power-outage storm, it was time to order a new lantern . . . had to be a Coleman. This new lamp is awesome with its four removable flashlight type magnetic accessory lights stored on the main base. Thanks Coleman !!!

I have the old one also. The design is fantastic. Like that the small lights can be angled to your liking. The battery layout is really good.

The four individual (removable) hand lights are dimmable as well as having a focused spotlight on the end. The lantern, when assembled as a whole, has multiple brightness modes not available in the first generation of this lantern. A bit smaller and lighter than 1st gen. as well.

Item Detail/Specification Reading is Essential, although it says rechargeable it is only referring to the detachable light panels, (the panels themselves have batteries included) the Base however, runs on a total of " 8 D batteries" Yikes. I thought this unit had a dual power feature, having the option of using a Rechargeable Internal battery and or Battery installment. But it is strictly "Only" battery powered. For the price of $84, for a 4 Panel detachable unit and only having a Battery operated central feature, it's hard to justify the price as you have to spend an additional 10-20$ (long term) on D batteries to power the base. I have plenty of Coleman products but this unit does not meet my outdoor requirements, needs and function. It is basically functional for only having fun camping with kids.

Expensive but works well. Love the removable LED panels. Gives off good light for compact lantern. Great for camping out outdoor bbqs. Portable and cool to the touch. A little heavy but feels sturdy and durable. Would be great in case of emergency situations. We used at Stagecoach and it was perfect for the entire camp area. Did not try to hang it but used as tabletop.
