One thing I like are the secure pockets and easy to use zipper. Rothco's soft shell M65 pays homage to the field jacket in a comfortable soft shell style without looking like a serviceable military uniform item bought at a garage sale or surplus shop. I've gotten more than a few complements and questions where to get one.This is a winning buy and for the first time in a long time don't have to buy a size up.

Very warm with liner. Very comfortable without liner and makes a great cold weather/rain jacket. I have had 2 buttons that needed to be reattached after removing the winter liner. This is very similar to the one I wore in the 80s

These do run a little big. I normally wear a 2x shirt, and an XL in this jacket fits me really well. The zipper doesn't seem that heavy duty, but we'll see how it lasts. Over all I'm pretty happy with this jacket, so far.

When I entered the Marines in 1981 they were still using the Sateen green M65. The camo and waterproof versions came much later. We never were issued anything else for cold weather other than an M65 and mouse boots, and I learned with the woobie liner these were very warm even in terrible icy weather conditions. I've slept in the snow in nothing but an M65 like this one and laying on a closed cell foam pad when we did not have sleeping bags. I was looking for that same dependability with this M65 and it did not disappoint.This fit the bill, and it got its first test a couple of weeks ago at the Winter Field Day for Amateur Radio operators, we were outside in winter conditions with snow and rain for several hours. I remained warm and comfortable and able to move around and operate. With the liner buttoned in, mobility is only slightly restricted.It comes with the insert included so no need to buy a separate one which I also did (I now have two)The Rothco M65 is not a cheap import or knockoff, its the real deal quality wise and I expect I will use this one for the remainder of my life.

I got this jacket with the purpose of layering it over an inserted liner, sweaters or sweatshirts. Alone, I knew it wouldn't be particularly warm. I like the fabric, the way it looks and the large pockets for gloves, devices, etc.
