This "set" only goes up to 1", and worse, the pass thru is too small, just by a tiny amount. This means precutting all 1" bar to length or a smaller diameter. You can mount 1" stock from the front, but only to about 50 of the full depth All the collets are badly burred on the slots, I expected that, but the smallest, the 1/16", WILL NOT CLOSE AT ALL as they never bothered to cut all the way through to the bore. I attacked it with a dremel, and cleaned it out, and can close now, but clearly no QA was done. I should have known from the price. Good to learn how to use collet chucks, and maybe to get you going, but these are sub-standard and will need work, I have already ordered a quality 1" collet so I can do what I planned originally

I ordered these collets for a custom drill sharpener along with a purchased 4 and 6 sided collet holder, I was able to sharpen and mill flats on 3 sides of the drill shank. These also have an internal thread on the collect backside for a standard collet stop.

In the past I've used high end collets like Hardinge. These collets are very nice; a real bargain compared to the cost of commercial tooling. The finish is excellent. The edges are sharp and crisp but free of burrs. A little time spent with deburring tools to ease the sharp corners will make these as nice as the high priced items. I inserted short pieces of 3mm-1/8 O-ring material in the slots of a few of them to make them self releasing after watching a Stefan Gotteswinter video on making inexpensive tooling work better. Photos: The 1/2x1 screws were made 100 by holding in these collets including the slotting. The shafts were made in collets after reducing the smaller diameter to .750 and the 110 year old gear was a light press fit. Concentricity was excellent.

This "set" only goes up to 1", and worse, the pass thru is too small, just by a tiny amount. This means precutting all 1" bar to length or a smaller diameter.
