I have marked balls with this machine and played them for several rounds now. I can honestly say I believe it makes a lot of difference on drives. I am hitting them consistently more straight and longer than I was before. Even on miss hits they aren't as far off line as before. I don't think it makes as much difference for putting, or maybe I'm just not good enough to notice. I have marked balls from several different brands -- Callaway, TaylorMade, Srixon, Wilson, and Honma. They all have been more consistent off the tee. I have found with this machine if you place a ball in there and it bounces all over the place, that ball is a stinker. It's got core issues. Mark it as junk and put it in the practice bag.

First, the flaws: 1) the top guard will not allow a normal pen fit thru the hole to the ball. The pen is black. I want other colors. 2) Two 1.5 v batteries do not provide enough power. When you spin it up til the green spin light is solid, the ball spins fast, but when you press the pen even lightly against the ball, the motor slows way down. My ball have dimples, and a bit of pressure is needed to get the line wide enough to see Now, my resolutions: 1) Remove the top guard. 2) Use any pen I like, even multiples 3) The best pen is a Sharpie Chisel Tip. Mine is blue. I ordered the spinner after my co-competitor was playing the same ball as me, and he had one black mark on one side of the ball. Once, I hit his ball by mistake. Another time, he hit mine, which had 2 red dots and a smilie face below the label on each side. The patterns I make with my technique yield are different from each other, no two the same, JUST LIKE MY SWING! I don't even have to tell them what my mark is. They can identify uniquely to me just by watching me hit.

I opened this product and tried to remove the screw that holds the battery compartment together. The screw stripped it's head and the plastic in the body of the unit thus making it impossible to install the batteries. I was looking forward to this upgraded unit but to no avail.

Easy to use, but not sure if it really helps keep the ball on track to the hole, though the issue may be more me than the Check-go-Pro! I do use the line on the ball to point my ball to the right direction, and use that to align myself when putting so it is put to good use.
