The good: it is a dumbbell- shaped piece of metal. It probably weighs more or less the right amount of weight.The bad: the finish is some kind of thick coating that has completely filled the knurling (assuming there is knurling under there) to the point that it is smooth. Worse, the finish feels like it would be more appropriate on a nonstick pan than on a dumbbell.This thing is a danger to self and others. I managed to (fortunately mildly) injure myself just putting the damn thing on the shelf when it slipped out of my hand. Maybe someone with no experience with dumbbells wouldn't have a problem, but if you've picked up anything resembling a proper dumbbell (a cheap dumbbell from even 6 months ago would be fine- doesn't have to be something fancy) more than a half-dozen times in your life, you'll have developed a certain expectation regarding the coefficient of friction and will launch this piece of junk in a random direction within 3 minutes of touching it. Skull-crushers would become all too literal should you have the misfortune of encountering this newfound low in the world of dumbbells. You have been warned!!
