I didn't have to use this for the removal of the crankshaft bolt but it came in handy for the torquing down of the crankshaft bolt. Ended up using it again for the removal and installation of the flywheel while replacing clutch. It only fits one way so if it feels like it doesn't fit, turn it 180.

I've worked on a lot of 5vz's and my preferred method of removal for crank bolt is an IR composite body impact gun with a short socket. With the radiator out there is just enough clearance to sneak it in there and not hit the condenser but you can only crack it free and then spin it off by hand otherwise the gun interferes with the condenser. As far as install you're kind of guessing on torque if you use a gun. This tool works well to crack it free and spin it off by hand or with an air ratchet. It's great for install to get exact torque. I've probably had a couple hundred occasions to use this and never had problems without it, but I think if you're doing a lot of them it's worth the money. I'm glad I finally have it. I still use a dot of blue LocTite on the bolt for good measure.

All I have to say is that this tool worked like a charm! I even used it to hold the cams in place while loosening the crank bolt when needed.
