Was able to retap a setscrew hole with no problems. This was hard to find in the local big box and hardware stores due to the size and thread count. It is also HSS and not just carbon steel which is a must.

Broke the first time I tried to use it, in cast iron, on my vertical mill, while mounting scales for a DRO, in a place that a bolt has to go. I'm pretty much screwed. The load was light. Used cutting oil. I fed it in 1/4 turn at a time, backing up to clear chips. Backed out and cleaned it with compressed air after every 3 turns. No reason for it to break. The temper of the steel used in this tap is too brittle. 40 years of experience with working with steel. Junk.

Decent tap for price, I just needed to rechase a thread, worked fine. Can't say how it would have worked if tapping hole from scratch. Good chip clearance which helps!
