Product Description
To create rolled oats, whole grain groats are first steamed, then rolled flat into flakes. Sometimes referred to as "old-fashioned" oats, rolled oats cook faster than steel-cut oats and are a great source of soluble fiber (beta glucans) along with other phytochemicals such as avenanthramides.
Thick rolled oats provide a textural difference (a more solid "bite" than regular rolled oats) while still maintaining the high nutritional value common in all oat products. Thick rolled oats are frequently used in breads, energy bars, and granola.

Directions
Bring water and salt to a boil. Add old fashioned regular rolled oats, reduce heat, and cook 10-20 minutes (depending on the consistency you desire). Stir occasionally. Cover and remove from heat and let stand a few minutes. Serves two people. Microwave Instructions: In a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup oats and 1 cup water. Cover and microwave on high for 3 to 5 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes. Makes 1 serving.Ingredients
