• What is the difference between screen printing and heat transfer printing?

  Screen printing is the process that involves transferring a stenciled design onto a flat surface using a mesh screen, ink and a squeegee. You will also find this method called silk screen. Heat transfer printing is type of printing that uses heat to bind a design to a fabric.

  There are some major comparisons between these two methods:

  Durability: Screen printing soaks into the fabric and lasts much longer over time. A heat transfer image sits atop the fabric, and it is susceptible to fading and cracking over time.

  Multi-Colored Designs: Screen printing needs to separate screens for each image color, so the designs usually include only a few colors or just one color. In contrast, heat transfer allows you to print multiple colors at once.

  Complexity of design: Screen printing works best for simple designs or logos. Heat transfer can make a more crisp-looking image and allows you to use complex designs, including photographs and complex images.

  Set-up Process: Screen printing needs more time to set up and the set-up cost is more expensive. But after set-up, it can quickly print products of the same design. Therefore, screen printing is suitable for large orders, and heat transfer is the more cost-effective method for small orders.
