The innovative Pure Direct design allows the music signal to travel the shortest possible route, bypassing the buffer amp, tone, loudness, and balance controls to essentially eliminate any signal break down for the purest sound quality you have ever experience.
When processing and transmission of the audio signal is simple and direct there is less chance of it being affected by noise and distortion. Yamaha's amplifier design technology called ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) features I/O (input to output) direct symmetrical design, with left and right channels organized in a straight, symmetrical layout for highest signal purity.
High quality speaker terminals give you the best connection and outstanding durability. To ensure effective heat dissipation and achieve crisp, clean sound, the A-S301 features dual aluminum-extruded heat sinks. A subwoofer out connection lets you connect an external subwoofer for stronger bass, and better overall sound quality.
Separate from the overall volume, the variable loudness knob controls the balance of the low and high frequency sounds, providing full tonal range at any volume level along with compensating for the natural loss in the human ear of high and low frequencies at soft levels. The A-S301 includes a slim remote control with easy to use buttons, and an auto power off that will automatically power off the amplifier to save energy.

Loved the digital connections for TV for one, but the sound of this amp is just so much more than I could've hoped for at this price level. I use a wiin mini optical output to an smsl su1 dac then to input 1 feeding ADS L780s and am just amazed at how great it sounds. I have a sub also so the sub output is great feature. Plays much louder than I need it too so cant say it's under powered. Sounds much better than the smsl class d amp it replaced, which I liked alot

i picked up a 701 after owning a cheap $200 yamaha NS receiver a couple years. the sound quality difference IS HUGE!!! that old amp is now worthless to me and feels like i got ripped off!!! the clarity is soo much better! With that said im kind wishing i bought an as-1200 considering how much better this lower end amp was!! that will be on my next to purchase after i get my hands on some yamaha NS1000's!! I picked up as an impulse buy when it was listed used for $520 here and i feel i got a great deal! not sure if id feel the same $800,, id probably research more amps at that point to make sure its really worth it

Perfect amp for efficient Klipsch Heritage speakers. DAC and amp sound great with both speakers and headphones. Neutral and accurate amp with perfect amount of power for super efficient speakers. If you need more power simply step up to the 501, 701 or 801 models. If you don't need that power stick with this amazing option. Runs cool and clean. Pure direct is great when you don't need eq or balance. Nice selection of inputs and outputs.Good value at $350 but a true no brainer if you can get an open box unit for $260 as I did. Mini amps and desktop solutions may be sleek and pretty and have many influencer supporters and shills but do not have the decades of experience and engineering behind them that Yamaha has.
