The application process was fairly straightforward. The spray nozzle delivered a consistent stream, making it easy to achieve an even coat without too much effort. Although it dries quickly, the end result was far from the smooth, glossy finish I had hoped for. The surface appeared dull and lacked the clarity and shine that you would expect from a clear coat. Even after applying several coats, the finish looking cloudy or hazy. On top of that, the finish looks yellowish. While it is priced affordably, the results do not justify even the low cost. The need for multiple coats, combined with the lackluster finish, means that this product ends up costing more in the long run due to the need for reapplication or even starting over with a different product.

I use gloss black on classic cars. No doubt most of the other options (silver, white, etc.) in the 12-ounce Dupli-Color acrylic lacquer cans are just as good. The clearcoat, in my experience, is weak but harmless; it adds depth rather than gloss. Lacquer is old-fashioned paint with pros and cons. One of the pros is that new coats seemingly dissolve into old coats, which means that you get thickness instead of multiple layers and that you can correct mistakes much more easily than you can with enamel. Usually these Dupli-Color cans spray very well. The lacquer paint comes out fully atomized and, unlike its enamel competitors, it dries very fast. With preparation and experience you can spray it on wet without much worry about runs or orange peel. The texture of a wet application is like a satin sheet.

Came out great with minimal skill. This is the first time I've ever used spray paint and was truly happy with the result. I painted a wood vanity top black. The lacquer is hard and resisting water and holding up great in a bathroom, and as long as you don't gob it on the result looks amazingly consistent.

I used another brand name of lacquer that was really runny, and had problems with high and low spots on the finish, with lacquer, it requires a few coats so, it's a little tricky. This brand is a little thicker so it coats a little easier, but you have to pay attention.
