I bought the Sunex 9704 pry bar set as an upgrade to thenbsp; TEKTON 3350 Pry Bar Set, 5-Piece nbsp;that I previously purchased. The Tekton set was a great introduction to the utility of pry bars, but I thought that I could do better. The Sunex has a quality feel to them, much more balanced in your hand than the Tekton. With the exception of the 8-inch bar, the Sunex ends are sharpened so that the bars better slide under your pry objects. The metal finishing on the Sunex is better than on the Tekton; the paint flaked off of the Tekton after a couple of uses. I used the Sunex for front-end suspension work (removal and replacement) on a 1-ton pickup and I saw minimal flexing of the bar. I am constantly using the 8-inch and 12-inch bars, you'll be surprised how handy they become. The Sunex comes with vinyl protectors for the blade ends, which I appreciate. My only con with the Sunex is their handles. Supposedly, they are ergonomic, but I do not agree. The handles have an essentially square cross section, but the corners are rounded. When you grab the handles to lever the bar, they are uncomfortable in your hands because of the nearly square cross-section. Conversely, the Tekton is a joy to hold because they have the true ergonomic handle, in my opinion. In summary, I rate the Sunex a 4.5 because of its quality and price point. The 0.5 deduction is the result of its yesteryear handle.

They seem like good quality, but they are not quite as rigid as I was expecting. Nevertheless, they do the job. I guess I would rather have them bend than snap in two. The real test will be after I have owned/used them for a year or two, I'll try to update this review later.

They work okay, but are a little flimsy. They are good for small things, but I am a deisel mechanic and they are too weak for most of the stuff I do.

USED SCREW DRIVERS TO PRY WITH THEN BOUGHT THIS SET OF PRY BARS. I WISH I HAD ALL THE SCREW DRIVERS I THREW AWAY BECAUSE I HAD BENT, BUSTED THE ENDS OFF, ETC. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

This is a great set of pry bars for use around the house or car. The smallest one I use for removing door panels on cars. The next larger one is good for small boxes. The larger two could be for light remodeling. These will save your screwdriver set and give you a better handle to use. Would be rated higher if the handles were padded instead of hard plastic and some molding ribbing left on some. I wrapped mine with some grip tape and it helped a lot. The finish will wear off and these would not be good for use around anything that could spark with metal contact. Get a set, but do not expect them to stay together for long, they end up all over the place. A pouch or case would have been nice for this price. They can be found cheaper on-line on sale as well.

I had long put off buying pry bars by rationalizing I could use use screw drivers. After damaging some tools and things I was working on, I now know the folly of this. These work much better than any screw driver. If you ever do any prying, do yourself a favor and get the right tool.

Cornwell sells these for around $50. I got this set on sale for $45 5 months ago for home usage. In June I replaced my gates and I used the 24 to jockey the new one in place while I bolted the hinges on. With all the steel and wood weight I was impressed it didn't bend at all. The only gripe I have is that they are not striking bars like my cats paws or snap on bar sets at work. If these are struck the handle can shatter and cut you so be careful. If a striking set is desired, look up mayhew cats paw or dominator bars. I have a 42 and 48 inch dominator bar at work and they take lots of punishment and still deliver when needed.
