Pool Sentry Auto-Fill
Automatically maintains water levels Attaches to heavy duty re-enforced garden hose Protects pump against burnout Never overfills the pool No tools required THE POOL SENTRY is used to maintain the water level of a pool, spa or pond automatically and unattended. When the Pool Sentry is removed from the box, it is easily assembled by threading the fill tube into the float valve. Snap the fill tube and float valve into the base and fill the base with small rocks or pea gravel. Next, snap the top cover onto the base and attach the garden hose (not included). Finally, adjust the float to the desired position. The supply water stays on at all times when the Pool Sentry is in the pool. As the float drops, the water turns on. When the float reaches its set height, the water shuts off. The customer can adjust the float to any desired level, usually a point halfway on the tile line or skimmer. Because the hose is under constant water pressure, it is essential that the customer uses a heavy-duty, reinforced hose. It is rated to 200 psi working pressure and 750 psi burst strength. The Pool Sentry works with a pool water level that is 2 to 8 below the pool deck surface.

It leaked at the hose connection after 1 year. Plumber said toss it. I will buy a less expensive one now and see how that goes.

I bought mine in 2018 and forgot to leave a review. Here's my 7-year review. Still works perfectly! This has been working hard every day for about 7-1/2 years. I carefully assembled it, added larger stones to it, and added my own stainless steel braided hoses, and attached them to a battery-powered programmable timer, which had a generous amount of Teflon plumbing tape, but not too much, to ensure that everything had a tight seal. I tried to be smart about this, and only run the timer after sunset for a few reasons, it ensures the night shift of the pool cleaning cycle always has enough water, and "maximum" water, that is cleaned and treated before morning, and I figured it would be less stress on the plastic in the hot sun? About once a month or so in the Summer, in Florida, and maybe quarterly in the "Winter", I do a manual inspection and test. (I upgraded my timer a year or so ago to the RACHIO hose-end timer, which is connected via Wi-Fi to an app on my phone. It will tell me when the battery is running low, there is a pressure disparity, or if "no flow" is detected, etc.!) It is Helpful to me as a frequent traveler that I can ask my neighbor or friend for "remote assistance" if I am unable to verify what the problem is. I even took it all apart very carefully last year, and carefully repainted all of the exterior parts with an outdoor-friendly plastic spray paint, after some light prep, as it had faded and attracted some dirt over the years when the sticker wore off, but now it blends in even more, in an area that no one would typically walk in, making it even more stealth than before! This is one of my favorite gadgets in my life!

Kind of works. It will do the float switch it is meant to be. It does not turn the water off so do not leave it on if you will not be home.
