The 3/4" tap and the drill bit seem to be undersized. It didnt cut enough thread for the 3/4" plug to screw in. I checked the tap and drill bit with a 3/4" pipe coupling and both were sloppy. This didnt work at all for me.

The drill and tap set from DRILL AMERICA allowed the use of a NPT fuel tap after carefully drilling out. it looks cool... and doesn't leak!

I used this to drill and tap an aluminum water pump housing. I know aluminum is not a very tough metal but never the less the drill did great and didn't get gummed up and the tap worked well too. Nice set. I just wish they made a complete set with drill and taps (they only sell a tap set).

Worked just fine to drill and tap a new air output on my compressor. Package well and came with oil on it to prevent rust. All in all, good price and got the job done.

I kept this, but it came used, had a few slightly broken threads on the tap and the drill bit clearly had whatever material on it from the previous buyer.

The end of the drill flutes had a small burr, recommend dressing it with a stone (or sandpaper) before using the drill bit. The same for the tap, the cutting edges look slightly rounded. But for the price they are a reasonable quality, and Im only using this in aluminum. The tap doesn't have much lead in taper, if you are using this every day I would suggest a higher quality tool. I had a 4 port water manifold on my yard hydrant. The threaded plastic connector that screwed onto the garden hose connector on the hydrant broke. I was able to drill out the aluminum entrance tube on the manifold and threaded it for a 1/2 inch pipe. I bought a 1/2 inch x 1 inch long brass nipple and threaded it onto the new threads. I then added a 1/2 pipe to garden hose adapter and it screwed onto the hydrant. We are back in business with 4 hoses in our yard.

I am not sure how well the bit and tap would hold up for regular use, but I just needed it for a one-time application (drilled out broken brass pipe nipple and retapped). It worked well (using plenty of oil and taking my time), and it was far less expensive than buying a set of NPT taps that I will probably never have a need for going forward.
