A slightly off-white pad comes in rather nondescript package. It wasn't a day or two after cutting and placing it in my power filters media container that it became a rusty brown. I don't know for sure what it was absorbing but it certainly was absorbing something. The complaint I have is that despite claiming that it is easily reactivated by salt water I didn't have much success at removing the discoloration. I don't know if that's very important but all the same I couldn't get much out even in the saltiest of warm water. I even let it soak for hours and it didn't seem to affect it.Otherwise it definitely seems to work.

this product does what it says, but in my aquarium it died(got used up) quickly. i do not know why. to be fair, i use up purigen relatively fast also. maybe my aquarium is just dirty, or my filter doesn't hold enough media for 200gph.

I love this product. It seems to do what it says it does and it has never given me a reason to doubt it. With current research indicating Activated Carbon might cause HLLE this is your best option as far as I am concerned. They are also one of the few companies that has done real research on their product to prove their claims!
