Mission: We believe that everyone who works hard deserves the opportunity to succeed. Our mission is to help motivated Contra Costa County job seekers develop the skills and confidence to launch careers that lead to financial security.

Results: During FY2018-19, our team enrolled 252 new job seekers in our core employment programs. They placed 162 new job seekers into initial employment, and another 51 alumni were supported in re-entering employment or earning a raise or promotion. Altogether, in all of our programs, we served 1,580 residents last year. Since we started tracking employment verification in 2010, our alumni have earned more than $67 million to support themselves and their families. Our five-year retention rate for the flagship Job Training and Placement Program, based on verified employment status, stands at 73%. Programs: 1.The Administrative Careers Training Program (formerly named the Job Training and Placement Program, or JTPP), which prepares participants for administrative careers by combining computer training with life skills, case management, paid experience, mental health services, career skills, job placement, and alumni services. 2.The Healthcare Career Pathway program, a partnership that combines Opportunity Junction's supports, case management, and professional development training with Certified Nursing Assistant training provided by Mt. Diablo Adult Education and informed by the input of Ombudsman Services and our private Skilled Nursing Facility partners. 3.Career Counseling and Placement Assistance (CCPA), offered in Bay Point in partnership with SparkPoint Contra Costa and in Antioch and at Los Medanos College in partnership with the Contra Costa Workforce Collaborative. 4.Road Map, helping youth aged 18-24 enroll and complete short-term job training, including Career Technical Education at Los Medanos College, then entering and retaining employment. 4.The evening Career and Technology Center, powered primarily by volunteers, offering the community free access to computers and the Internet, plus drop-in classes in software applications and English as a Second Language. 5.Do-It-Yourself Tax Assistance, which teaches taxpayers to prepare their own returns using and online interface.
