Mission: We help homeless and at-risk veterans reach and maintain their highest levels of independence. Our programs fill gaps that sometimes occur allowing people to fall through the cracks. At MHVI, we don't leave our wounded behind.

Results: Since 2008, Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative has served more than 5000 veterans and their families.

Geographic areas served: Southeast Wisconsin

Programs: Outreach - finding homeless veterans where they sleep and provide help obtaining benefits, housing medical care, toiletries, etc. Home Support – Once housing is found, we make sure veterans have what they need to set up a home including furniture, kitchen equipment, linens and more. Emergency Food Pantry – MHVI provides short-term food crisis intervention. WOVIN (Women Veterans Initiative) – We provide an array of emergency and human services exclusive to issues faced by female vets. Bikes for Stripes – We provide gently used, donated bikes – for some vets, this is their only mode of transportation. Call 414-257-4111 with questions.
