I tried other punches with a spring center punch to help punch concentric holes but they were inaccurate. this set, though a little pricey, is 10x better. You can't punch more than a few holes at a time without taking it apart to clean the material out of it, but for the quality difference of the final product, that minor inconvenience is worth it.

Used 5/16??? and 1-1/8??? Mayhew Pro 66000 punch set and C.S. Osborne 603 cutting mat to make the seal ring for the Wilkins Model 600 pressure regulating valve installed in 2007. The material is 70 durometer Neoprene from McMaster Carr 1294N16, thickness: 3/1634;, actual is 0.2034;. The seal ring that came with the manufacturer's repair kit is .12534; thick which did not work with the old Wilkins 600 valve.

As other reviewers have said, my only regret is not buying this 30 years ago. Instead of using cork borers from the lab or other random punches that gave OK results, the Mayhew set creates beautiful discs and custom-sized washers quickly and efficiently. It is solidly built and the different punches attach and detach easily. A joy to use with great results.
