DLA Liberty Hardware Hinge Pin Door Closer Bright Brass L B6000 P12181091DLA-L-B6000 https://cdnimages.opentip.com/full/DLA/DLA-L-B6000.jpg Liberty Hardware Hinge Pin Door Closer Bright Brass L B6000 Door Closer Hinge Pin Type This Liberty Hardware allows you to turn light weight interior doors into self-closing doors. No need to remove door for installation. Long lasting construction features adjustable spring and nylon bearing to reduce friction. A 30 pound door such as a wood hollow core door will close with one unit according to the manufacturer, however, we recommend using one unit per hinge. In our office, I installed these on a 36 inch commercial steel door which has three hinges. I installed one for each hinge. This works great. All of these closers from various manufacturers come from the same factory in China-- Ace Hardware, Stanley, or whatever. I mention this because I discovered something while installing mine, and I do not want you to think that it is a something unique to our unit-- you must have 1/2\" between the edge of the hinge leaf and the door facing to a;;ow room for the \"clip\" that snaps over the hinge leaves. See Pictures and read \"Technical Info\".These closers have no instructions with them. Examine them, however, and it will be obvious how they work. A long pin is included to be used to push the old hinge pin out by inserting it into the bottom of the knuckle and pushing up. Slip the decorative cover off so it will not be damaged during install. There are two jaws tight together on the pin end of these units. These must be pried apart slightly with a screw driver as you slip them down over the hinge leaves just behind the hinge knuckle. As you push the \"pin\" part of this unit in to replace the regular hinge pin, make sure as you push down that one part of this jaw goes on each side of the hinge. When fully inserted, replace the decorative cover. Do one hinge at a time-- do not remove the door. Product Dimensions: 6 x 1 x 0.8 inches 12181091 0767536733504 0.5000lbs 0.00 0.00 0.00

These fit better, as they include a sleeve to put into the hinges which have larger pins. Very good. The adjustment wrench works ok. But TWO wrenches work a LOT better. Buy two units. I bought a second unit for this heavy door. Now I have one at the top and one at the bottom. This setup works VERY good.

I love how well this works even with such a tiny mechanism. It was a little tricky to read the instructions but once I figured out it was super easy. Just DONT LOSE THE TINY PIN

It seems silly that a $10.00 widget can make or break your day, but the design of this common product is so superior to others it makes the installation a wiz. Similar designed door closers utilize a star shaped top-cap to maintain the spring pressure. The spring pressure is adjusted with what can be described as a hook wrench. Hook in slot and turn to the preferred setting. BUT, these are not finely machined components, and the "hook" never stays in place and slips out of position causing you to start all over again. It looks the same, and this brand uses a similar slotted "top cap", but it is larger and adjusted with a supplied mini open-end wrench that stays in place while installing and adjusting. I have five doors in our home mounted with both designs. This ia far superior, and an easier "add-on" if your not installing a whole new door.

Closes the door but too weak to make the door latch.

There should be a guide instruction sheet with pictures as it is very, very difficult to install.Otherwise, it works well for my application of a very light door.

Seems like poor door installation, bulky spring and other extraneous gripes overlook the ease and functionality of this product!!!We have brass hinges on all our doorsthe brushed brass is lighter but not distracting.so.who cares. The door when opened a 1/5 of the way closes but does not latch. Since the purpose is the seal the air conditioning upstairs in lieu of flowing into the basementwho cares. BTW opening the door 1/4 or more yields full closure and latching.Had to use 2 (bought 3) so the closers worked better than I estimated.Again so what is the problem.I expect the latches to lose a bit of closing power as the frame contact depress the frame wood. Will fill with white wood putty (which dries hard as a rock) and voila..not a problem.Have used these decades ago for years. Easy to replace, easy to install (if your door is installed properly) and compensates very well for inhabitants a door closing phobia.
