Wow, this grinder is not my father's crappy old Craftsman that I used growing up. So quiet and vibration-free. Very happy with this purchase and for the average DIY person I can't imagine needing something better.

I bought this 6 Jet bench grinder after returning a defective Dewalt 8 model. This unit is very smooth and quiet, I don't even have to bolt it down, it just sits on the bench. The base and rests are rough, and I do mean rough. That wasn't very important to me as I wanted this mostly for a wire wheel...which is where I ran into my issue. I bough the cheaper unit with two grinding stones on it, thinking I was saving money over the wire wheel model that is also sold. Turns out I need a spacer to run the wire wheel and it isn't included. I had to scrounge up a spacer/washer to get my wire wheel going. I don't see the point in selling a unit as either wire wheel or grinder, but it's not that big of deal at the end of the day. Power wise, it's fine. I can bog it down if I lean into it too much, but it can also rip things out of your hand if not paying attention. I think it is very acceptable for a 6 grinder. 5 stars if it would have come with the proper spacer for a wire wheel and the base/rest finish was improved.
