Edgestar EIB450SS Ice Maker

Good product for the price and good customer service.

This unit is replacing one that was purchased in 2015. That unit needed repairs for the cooling fan and water solenoid. Runs quietly and produces a good quantity of ice and keeps the ice frozen. Our unit ran 24/7 during this period.

Overall very happy with the ice maker. Fills the ice bin overnight. The on/off switch was broken on arrival but Whynter customer service was great to work with and replaced the switch

This is my 3rd one. The ice maker just keeps chucking out cubes. It's actually more than we can use. I push up the wire bar to stop the automatic ice maker. The only reason I bought this one was because I broke the last one by putting an ice bag into it to keep the bagged ice frozen. The machine was in the auto mode and it kept trying to make ice. The Ice bag jammed the mechanism. It was my fault not the machine. Terence R.

For the last three years, I've owned an almost identical ice-maker that had a different brand name. It served me well until a compressor seal began going bad. Overall, I was satisfied with the product. This unit seems to be the same except for the power switch. The power switch on my first unit had to be manipulated by hand and was kind of tricky. The power switch on this unit is large and is too easily operated. Since I've owned this one, on two occasions, I have found the power was off due to someone accidentally hitting the off switch with their foot. I'm guessing the makers of this unit must have thought they were improving the design - but they really didn't. Don't get me wrong. So far, it is doing a great job of making ice. I hope it lasts at least three years.
