This sturdy cart was easy for me to put together and my kids immediately enjoyed playing with it. The chalkboard areas are a nice feature for my emerging writer to label her wares and the two shelves hold a nice amount of pretend play supplies and can fit a variety of little baskets and small trays to sort items. The 6 icecream cones that come with it are durable and holes they go in on the top of the cart surface can accommodate additional types of common ice cream cones. The only problem with the cart is that the canopy is not very sturdy. The way the arms are designed that extend into the air, they bend easily and curious little boys like mine want to move them and they don't stand up to it well. I think if the arms holding the canopy upright were a single piece instead of two, they would be stronger. However, we just ditched the arms and canopy all together and use the cart that way, very happily. I found that removing the canopy also extended the life of the cart for my older child, as she was a bit too tall to use the cart and see out from under the canopy at 5 years old (the height is not adjustable.) But by removing the canopy, there is no more height restriction and she continues to play with the cart. In addition to an ice cream cart, the children have used it as a flower shop, post office, grocery store and library. If this cart included a little toy cash register accessory that fit on the recessed square on top, it would be a must have for preschoolers! I highly recommend a toy cash register accessory for this cart to complete the pretend play experience. It has held up well being used indoors and out almost daily for about a year now by children aged 2-5.
