Mission: The mission of the Breast Cancer Alliance is to fund innovative breast cancer research and to promote breast health through education and outreach. Breast cancer survivors, their friends and healthcare professionals are fulfilling this mission. Objectives:To raise funds for breast cancer research. To support breast cancer-related services in Connecticut (Fairfield & New Haven counties). To educate women on the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Vision:The Breast Cancer Alliance intends to expand its role as the preeminent regional organization funding breast cancer research, early detection, and education.

Programs: In the twelve years since its founding, the Breast Cancer Alliance has raised over $10 million for breast cancer research, education and outreach programs. The Breast Cancer Alliance is currently the fourth largest nonprofit, private funding provider to breast cancer research in the United States. Our research grants support medical research and focus on projects which may not qualify for government funding due to the innovative nature of the studies. Our funding has supported many such studies including nontoxic therapies for breast cancer treatment, the development of a potential vaccine for breast cancer, and sentinal node biopsy - now, a well-established diagnostic technique. In addition, we also fund epidemiological studies such as the significance of high fat dairy products and risk of breast cancer. Funds raised by the Breast Cancer Alliance have provided breast health education, screening and counseling services to thousands of women throughout our service area. To make early detection of breast cancer accessible to all, the Alliance funds mammograms for underinsured women. We educate the public about breast cancer, its treatment, prevention and the importance of early detection through our newsletters, lecture series and our website.
