This was our course book for ASL I and it was a wonderful learning tool. Would be difficult to learn just from the book because this is a moving language and still pictures don't give you the full action. But as a companion to a class or a refresher for someone coming back to language, it would be very helpful.

This book was great! Helped me learn sign language amazing. Great guide. The only thing better would be a person or cd teaching you. I got a "gently used" book which worked out in my favor because the person before me had all kinds of helpful hints in the book to help me learn better. 5 stars I'd say.

Love it! I purchased the New Hard Covered Book, and it is amazing. I would totally recommend this to ALL my friends!!! Except, it is really expensive. $50 for a book is too much, for a teen at least. But other than that, it's great.

Many of the signs are old and outdated. My instructor is constantly having to change the signs.

Great book for basics. A little hard to understand the signs but helpful with the internet as a guide. Recommended for a ASL introduction class so this book will be handy beyond the basics and into the intermediate classes.

Have had this book a few times. Keep giving it away. Great illustrations and explanantions on ASL signs. The exercises are invaluable when trying to sign with others.

Book is about 15 rears old and a few of the signs are out of date (missing texting and internet signs)....some signs have changed over the years. Still it's a great beginner or refresher book.
