It DOES curl up on the edges over time, as other buyers have stated. so I pick it up, and manually re-curve it back, and it' s good for several days. Yes, the quality from the old versions of this has declined. What to do? All products like this are produced with minimal quality checks, not to mention inferior design. Yes, it's overpriced for what it is. Live with it.

One year in, this mouse pad is a fail due to how it curls up. It is unacceptable that a 'brand name' like 3M doesn't hold up. I had replaced my previous one due to curling hoping it was an anomaly, it wasn't. Just find something else, I went to a full desk pad and separate wrist pad, harder to clean than this one but it has stayed flat.

I got this mousepad because I tend to lift my mouse a little while I'm moving it around, and that caused jittery movement and problems tracking with my previous mousepad. Like many other customers, I had a problem with the edges curling up, which caused some of the same mouse tracking problems that I was having before. Hopefully my solution will work for other people as well. I bent the mousepad inwards a tiny bit, and then put some lines of masking tape horizontally and vertically across the back to force the pad to maintain flatness. Make sure you stretch the tape tight across the back while the pad is bent flat or slightly inward. I used 3/4" width masking tape, so you don't need to cover a huge portion of the back with tape. Hopefully that will cause the pad to stay flat. It's working reasonably well for me. Once the mouse pad lays flat, it's a good product.

Expensive? Yes. But worth it. Yes, the edges do curled up a bit but so what? It doesn't affect the mouse operation whatsoever. Looks nice amp; pretty. VERY EASY to clean. Can't say the same for cloth type. The pad is very beefy and thick. Not like the slim ones that you see on most sub $10 mousepads. It has earned my coveted and highly desirable FOUR STAR non-fake review.

This picture shows the product after 8 years of daily office work. It looks old and bowed in little bit, but still performs perfectly. I am considering buying another one because of old looking but it still works perfect so I feel kinda guilty about it. There is a reason for people trust 3M products.
