Results: Since its inception in 1996, Volunteers in Medicine America has helped communities across the country plan and launch 114 free clinics providing quality, compassionate healthcare to low-income, uninsured individuals. Another dozen communities are in the development state. In 2018, Volunteers in Medicine clinics provided over 349,000 patient visits to more than 89,000 patients. Over 10,000 medical and community volunteers donated their time and talents. According to the results of a 2015 national survey, Volunteers in Medicine clinics have a greater focus upon quality, are open for more hours, are better resourced and have a substantially higher number of volunteers than other free clinics nationally.
