Mission: Virginia theatre association is organized and operated as a non-stock corporation, exclusively for non-profit educational, artistic, and charitable purposes. The mission of the virginia theatre association is to connect, create, and cultivate the practice and study of theatre by linking theatre practitioners and serving as the voice of theatre in the commonwealth of virginia.
Target demographics: connect, develop, nurture and advocate for theatre people of all ages, at every level, from every corner of the Commonwealth.

Programs: Vta advocated for the inclusion of the theatre arts in education and for fair and adequate arts funding in all communities of the state. Vta provided professional development opportunities for teachers using mini-conferences. Vta provided opportunities for actors to audition for the southeastern theatre conference, professional theatre companies, and many southeastern colleges. Vta organized high school, middle school and community theatre festivals in conjunction with their annual conference, as well as design competitions for costumes and scenery. Vta awarded two student scholarships to high school seniors who will be pursuing theatre as a college major.
