Mission: The Sexto Sol Center for Community Action serves impoverished communities in Chiapas and Guatemala where a change of vision and specific technical assistance can help people create a better life. Since 1997 we have assisted people to build water systems for their villages, succeed with their cooperative businesses, grow health-giving food with permaculture, improve neglected schools for their children, regain cultural pride, protect the watershed, and heal from the trauma of disaster and war. We advocate internationally for the respect of indigenous rights, and environmental and economic justice.
Results: Thousands of people in the Sierra Madre region have benefited from our programs. We have provided water to over 24 communities as of 2020, benefiting over 10,500 people. We have provided native tree seedlings to high country communities for reforestation to combat the climate crisis and repair the watershed. We have assisted survivors of natural disasters by providing state of the art energy medicine therapies, most recently in Guatemala in the aftermath of the eruption of the Vocan de Fuego. Schools have been improved, and over 1500 people have received training in how to grow food organically.
Target demographics: rural people in the remote villages of the Sierra Madre, and to advocate for indigenous rights internationally.
