I use this tachometer primarily for small engine (2 and 4 Cycle) testing and repair where my optical tach is impractical to use. On a few occasions, I have used it on V6 automotive engines. It worked well in all cases. Also, I have found it to be considerably more accurate than others of similar design. In fact, I returned another manufacturer's much less expensive model because of unstable, inaccurate readings. The TA100, so far, seems t be accurate and having the Peak kV feature can provide some insight when troubleshooting. The case is plastic, and unfortunately, uses a cheaper living hinge rather than a proper pinned hinge, and may split over time.
