I'm not sure exactly what to say if 4 or 5. My transmission was pretty bad. Put this in, it got worse. However, this is like water. You need thickness for transmissions. It says on bottle can last of life of transmission fluid. I don't agree. Use it for the miles it says on bottle, then change immediately to get thickness back up. My mechanic did a transmission change after it got worse. My transmission is way better. Is this what helped? I do not know. But glad my transmission is working a lot better. Saved me $3000.

The power steering pump in my 2007 Escape used to whine for a minute or so when it was below 20-degrees, even longer when it was below zero. It did it with fresh fluid, it did it with 30K mile fluid. I used to have it sit in the car slowing turning the steering wheel to keep it quieter. I added four ounces of this during a fluid flush and now the pump is quiet below zero after a few seconds of pretty insignificant pump whine.

I got this to make the steering wheel in my old civic hatchback smoother. I pumped out a bit of fluid from the power steering tank, added half a bottle of this stuff, ran the car 20 minutes while moving the steering wheel back and forth. Then I drove my car about 30 minutes and topped off the power steering fluid with 'lucas power steering fluidconditioners'. The wheel moved so much better, so I'm happy. I docked a star because when I pulled the white tab off the mouth of the bottle, a bunch of purple fluid came out and got all over my hand that was holding the bottle. Made me mad, especially because my toddler was at my hip on the other side. Not really an issue with functionality of the fluid, just pressure in the bottle, I guess. So, wear gloves and open somewhere that you're ok with potentially getting dirty

DOES THIS STUFF REMOVE GUM AND VARNISH, IT SURE DOES, BUT YOU MAY NEED TO CHANGE THE FLUID AND FILTER. My truck is 24 years old and has 165,000 miles on it. It has the 4R100 transmission. Recently the torque converter went. So I had it replaced along with a complete ATF fluid filter change. Soon after I was still experiencing poor shifting, so I used the Seafoam. While it improved the shifting it created another problem. It was hard to put in reverse, stalled in reverse or hesitated backing up. Research told me this could be inadequate fluid flow, either from fluid lines and/or coolers , or dirty filter. I did a coolers flush using an air compressor and a product called Kooler Klean. My truck has two coolers, the one that goes through the radiator and another auxiliary cooler so I separated the lines and hoses and cleaned them separately. That helped a lot, but I was still experiencing a problem. Finally I decided to change the fluid and filter again. This was less than seven hundred miles after the new fluid and filter. After draining and dropping the pan , in the bottom of the pan was a thick goo about a half inch thick and it looked as if the filter was slimed up too inside the pickup. This stuff is said to dissolve and liquefy harmful gum and varnish. YES, it sure does, enough to restrict flow through the filter. In the end a complete fluid(16 qts) and filter change straighten everything out. I only wish I had used it prior to the torque converter and fluid change. I could have saved a $150. Will I buy it again, YES. But I will only use it prior to changing the fluid, putting it in about 200/300 miles before doing the change.

My transmission was making a strange sound when shifting from first to second and it no longer makes any noise when shifting. Highly recommend it.
