This Magnet Chair Alarm is easy to use, reliable, and will suit just about every situation where a high fall risk patient needs monitoring. The monitor attaches to the wheelchair while the pull cord attaches to the patient’s clothes. When the patient moves too far, for example if they stand up, the magnetic hold will disengage and the alarm will sound, allowing the caregiver to intervene.
This simple alarm is easy to operate and allows a quick response. The alarm unit measures 127 x 51 x 32mm (5 x 2 x 1-¼”), making it small and discreet. The alarm is equipped with a tool free battery door with a red, low battery light that flashes when the battery is low. The durable alarm has a volume adjustment switch inside the battery compartment that can be set at high (105 dB) or low (90dB). The included 9V battery has an extra secure fit. When the alarm is dropped, the battery does not fall out of the alarm, making it more difficult for patient’s to disable the alarm. The length of the pull cord can be adjusted up to 762mm (30”) allowing flexibility on how far the patient is able to move before activating the alarm.
Replacement magnet, clip, and cord are sold separately.
A spring-loaded clip is included on the unit for easy attachment to a wheelchair. This alarm is designed to be used on chairs with the cord attached to the patient's clothes so the alarm is activated when the cord is pulled as a result of the patient starting to stand. The pull string has a 25mm (1”) diameter magnet on one end and a spring-loaded metal clip on the other. The alarm triggers and the red light illuminates when the magnet is pulled away from the alarm. To reset the alarm after it has been triggered, you simply put the magnet back on the alarm. The Personal Magnet Alarm is great for patients who simply need a reminder to sit or lay back down.
