Ordered this preemptively as a replacement for the notoriously finicky FV sensor on my Rheem water heater. Previously the FVS reset procedure had worked for me and delayed the inevitable. The replacement is as easy as taking off a cover, removing the sensor from its housing, unhooking a couple of wire leads, and then reversing the process. If you have a multimeter it can be useful to check the resistance to make sure that the sensor has actually failed but if the reset procedure hasn't worked then it's probably a pretty safe bet that it's bad. This genuine FVS sensor from Rheem is more expensive than other compatible FV sensors but as troublesome as they are I think going with a cheaper knock-off would be even less confidence-inspiring.

this replaced the sensor on my 2017 O J Smith water heater that listed for $92.00. A fraction of the cost and an exact physical match in size, connection, and resistance reading right within spec. Installed and working.

Item was an exact replacement for my Rheem water heater. We have been getting intermittent shut downs with a lock out code of flammable gasses. Odds were that it was a false reading. Hopefully this new sensor will resolve my problem.

This was so easy to install, the directions were simple and easy to follow I had it installed and my hot water tank up and running within 5 mins! And hey who can complain when you from cold showers to having wonderfully hot water again!
