Mission: Renewable World Foundation (RWF) strives within all of our programs to provide high quality educational opportunities for youth in the areas of renewable energy, electricity, conservation, solar, and experiential learning in the outdoors. Working with schools across the Midwest we engage students with meaningful hands-on, minds-on activities. Engaging these kids with fun and informative STEAM programs is important to get them interested in sciences and technology at a young age.
Results: Since 2008 over 58,000 youth have been impacted by our programs.
Target demographics: youth
Direct beneficiaries per year: 5,770 students in 50 schools.
Geographic areas served: The Midwest: Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and Iowa
Programs: In-class presentations: in-class presentations continue to serve as an introductory launching pad for Renewable World Foundation educational programs. Students learn about the types, forms and sources of energy, the related concepts of electricity and magnetism, renewable energy, the physics of power generation, energy efficiency and energy-related career paths. Courses include: introduction to renewable energy; Electricity & magnetism; Physics of power generation; Conservation, Dam tours, Energy camps, Canoeing and Water resources, Isle Royale Education Program, and Summer High Adventure . Time spent teaching courses is donated by William D. Following the project, students report their results to Renewable World Foundation and to their own communities. Outdoor environmental education courses and activities include: endangered & invasive species; outdoor adventure; phenology; watershed; canoeing; animal habitats of Isle Royale; solar energy; energy efficiency.
