All ball end mills are center cutting. This style is used where rounded contours are machined in a part. Frequently used when finishing parts requiring a smooth blended finish
For radius milling of slots, fillets, special contours, as well as plunging cuts
Produces excellent finish following rough cuts
Allows drilling into a piece part prior to slotting
Extra distance can be reached in difficult parts and longer cut lengths
Ball nosed end mills have rounded cutting edges with radial relief. They are most effective when sharp machined corners must be avoided to reduce the possibility of stress cracks. They can be used to plunge like a drill then mill a slot. The extra length helps in longer cuts.
