The first one of these I purchased lasted about 2000 holes before I torqued and snapped it. It was my fault. I liked that bit I purchased in 2021. 4 years later, I received a different bit even though it has the same model number. The old one was shiny silver. This one is your typical black HSS. It's not very sharp and it doesn't move product. Drilling 6-inch holes in kiln dried fir, I have to repeatedly pull it out and remove product from the tip to about 1-inch up the bit. Then reinsert and repeat. For a 6 inch hole, I have to manually remove product 3-4 times for a 6-inch depth. With the old one, I just raised the bit to allow the release of shavings a couple times per hole but never had to remove the bit and clear the tip. This thing effectively triples the time it takes me to drill. I do no recommend this bit at all!

Used this drill on birch wood and had very hard time drilling through well dried logs. Very dull out of the box. Not impressed. Should send back but will try to sharpen myself

My application requires me to go into wood and a steel beam. To get to the bottom side of the steel beam, I needed a full 10-1/2inchs before drilling out the bottom 5/8's hole. Once I got the bottom part drilled out I was able to insert an 5/8's galvanized anchor all-tread extending into a future stemwall. I will apply cutting fluid to augment the steel drilling locations. Also, be aware of the torque drilling steel surface. Make sure you are braced for when the drill cuts into the material. For me, I place the side handle against something solid to take the impact.

For the price it’s great .. build concrete piles and I used pex tubing to hold bolt holes true but I had to drill out the pex to get the half inch hole true so this bit drilled all 60 holes out rubbing on edge of concrete removing the plastic pex tubbing and remain sharp and did great for my guy.

I needed an 8 inch drill bit to pre-drill holes in pressure-treated wood for a deck I was building. This drillbit didn’t cut at all! I also bought a 6 inch Bosch drill bit that worked perfectly.

After drilling 1/8 inch into an aluminum block, it stopped cutting, had to sharpen it 6 times to go1 inch deep. Not a metal expert but definitely not a hardened steel
