I bought 4 to make a dual speaker dummy load. The resistors worked great. Would recommend!

I purchased 4 in order to be able to repair and adjust amplifiers that require 4 or 8 Ohm loads. Good precision: Resistance at 100 amp; 1kHz - R1:8.036, R2:8.003, R3:8.075, R4:8.020 Resistance at 10kHz - R1:8.084, R2:8.052, R3:8.118, R4:8.071 Make sure that you mount them on a big heat sink.

I've got one of these bolted to the metal frame of my workbench and routinely use it while biasing guitar amps and measuring their RMS output. It never gets more than just very slightly warm. I just drilled and tapped two holes on the frame for the bolts and mounted it without any heatsink compound. I like that it has built-in leads, which makes for a clean installation and leaves no exposed connections to accidentally get shorted out.

Great for doing amp repair without big speaker laying around. Bought cheap patch cable and soldered onto leads so I just plug in to speaker jack when working on amps.

I ordered these to connect as a load on a stereo amplifier I rebuilt. I have a pair of 50 watt small aluminum finned non-inductive resistors but they got too hot when connected to the 30 watt amp I'm working on, even for short time periods. Those aluminum resistors measured a perfect 8 load but these 100 watt ones are close enough, measuring 8.1 and 8.2. These were able to absorb the heat, being rated for double the wattage they shouldThere are not mounting holes to secure them to a heat sink or any other mount. For use on a higher wattage amplifier you might consider getting larger rated ones.Update: These do have mounting slots on both ends. When testing my amplifier to determine full power these got warm but not hot. (amp measured 43 watts both channels driven). While not necessary, I put red and black heat shrink tubing on both connecting cables as a visual reminder when connecting multiple connecting cables (e.g. alligator clipped cables from amp, oscilloscope probes, and/or mini grabber clips from DMM).The wiring coming from the resistors have some stiffness to them but can easily be bent to different angles and pretty much remain in that shape.Edit: There are mounting slots on both ends of each resistor that can be used to mount to a base that I didn't initially see.The amplifier I restored measured 43 watts per channel and these dummy loads were only slightly warm.

Tested to specifications, and did its job. unit does get warm but they all do. I used it for testing guitar amp signal as a dummy load at speaker output. would buy again....

It does a great job of resisting the flow of electrons. My only complaint is the leads... they're stiff, and the connectors on the ends are not useful for amplifier testing... they don't fit a single one of my 10 or so various amps. I assume the intention is that you are supposed to mount this in some sort of enclosure. I'll probably do that eventually, but for now I have to jimmy rig it up with alligator clips every time. Meh. Still glad I bought it and would buy again.
