If you're considering this item, I'm guessing you're already sold on the merits of melted cheese. Does it improve the texture of cheeseburgers and other cheese-centric foods? Absolutely. Does it help more cheese wind up where it should with less ending up in the bottom of your grill? Yep. This is a simple but excellent little device, with one caveat. Most types of cheese slip off quickly after melting with minimal residue left behind, but a small plastic scraper is provided for the types that are more likely to stick. Some reviewers have complained about the size, since it doesn't accommodate a standard-sized slice--but is it really that difficult to fold a slice of cheese? I'm going with NO. As with all nonstick surfaces, scouring pads are a definite no-no. Use only a soft cloth or regular sponge for cleaning if you want to preserve the nonstick properties. As other reviewers have noted, the handle of this tray can get VERY hot in the amount of time it takes to thoroughly melt a slice or more. Other melting trays mitigate this issue with detachable handles or silicone grips, but you're out of luck with this one. I'm used to employing a pot holder since I do a good deal of side burner cooking with a cast-iron skillet, but others might be overly bothered by the need to protect your hands when you use this tray. If that concerns you, look elsewhere. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with this simple and inexpensive device.

At first I was skeptical about how often I'd use this as I love the idea of melted cheese always available whole grilling but didn't know if it would be messy. Let me tell you, this is a game changer. It makes the best damned cheeseburger ever. Did you make fries with your cheese burger? Add melted cheese. Did you grill some veggies? Add melted cheese. Did you grill some cheese? Add melted cheese. No sticking issues. Works great as I had hoped, and I definitely recommend it to any cheese lover with a grill.

Not sure where I first heard of a raclette, but it was probably from watching too much food tv. I'm betting from a Drive-in and Dives marathon with its spiky haired host. Its a very simple premise. It's a small rectangular carbon steel pan really only meant to melt cheese. You could probably use it for a couple of square eggs if you really wanted to, but it's designed to melt that cheddar. Simply add cheese to it, put it on the grill or griddle and then top that wonderful burger with your perfectly melted, glorious cheese. This pan does it very well and the included spatula is helpful to get the cheese off the pan. My only complaint is the handle. It gets crazy hot. Would be super nice if it was removable or if it used a clip similar to a steakhouse griddle pan. Otherwise be careful with the handle.

I love cheese and I love melted cheese on almost anything. This nifty little tray allows for cheese to be melted on its own and poured over what ever you want from burgers to potatoes to sandwiches, etc. I think this tool is technically for the grill outside, but I've been using on a lower setting on my gas stove and it's been working just fine. My only issue with it is that it is not quite wide enough to accommodate a standard slice of cheese. A word of warning, the metal wire on the handle goes around the edge of the wood and does heat up, so you absolutely need to use an oven mitt or cloth when handling the pan.

This little pan is surprisingly handy if you either want to make crispy cheese or just to melt some cheese for your sandwich or burger. The cheese put in melts readily and slides right out without sticking, though, I imagine with time that property might reduce, I would say ONLY use the soft side of the sponge when washing and its included scraper to hopefully extend its life. The biggest issue is the handle gets super hot, there's basically no protection for you there, it has a wooden block in the center, which stays reasonable cool, but the metal wire that runs around the outside of it heats up a LOT most of the way to the end very quickly. So use a pot holder. The handle heating up is its only major issue though, it's a handy kitchen gadget otherwise.

Does exactly what you would expect it to. We use it on the stove when cooling cast iron burgers and such to get a really melt cheese topping.
