Mission: As volunteer radio hobbyists we currently serve YOU and this area by: * Providing the North Iowa Skywarn (storm spotter) team, * Networking with storm chasers & National Weather Service, * Providing our Amateur Radio Emergency Service Team, * Assisting our local Community Emergency Response Team, * Providing support during Emergencies or Search & Rescues, * Doing health and safety communications for public events such as: - charities and fundraisers like: the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, WalkMS, and the Moonlight Bikeride - various other walk-a-thons, bike-a-thons, parades, festivals, and large events like Ragbrai. . . VERY IMPORTANTLY, we also * Offer backup communications when other communications options fail, * Inspire people toward emergency preparedness and weather safety, * Promote the legal and proper use of all radio modes, * and seek opportunities to educate people about various radio modes and their benefits. . . OUR VISION includes improving service by acquiring “repeaters” to expand coverage area. A great asset would be purchasing a portable telescoping tower for quick setup at emergencies, highly populated events or for “temporarily replacing” a damaged tower during a weather disaster. The most pressing need is for a trailer: a “Mobile Command Center” replete with generators and equipment to be moved on-site at a moment’s notice.
