Mission: To ensure every minnesotan has a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. We engage in community education activities, public policy advocacy, and providing technical assistance to service providers across the state.
Programs: Homes for all: - related priority program appropriations/policy changes (passed as part of hf2749 and signed by the governor on 6/1/16): - homeless youth act - fy17: $33k, fy18-19: $2.9m - safe harbor - fy17: $33k, fy18-19: $1.5m (matching appropriation in dept. Of health), raises age of eligibility to 24 - crisis housing eligibility expansion - now includes persons with serious (strikes "persistent") mental illness under 245.99, subd. 2.Prosperity for all: - in 2016, had 67 endorsers, as well as advocates and organizations involved across the state. Earned media garnered public discourse on the need to increase the mfip grant. - mch hired a research intern through the university of minnesota's center on urban and regional affairs (cura) to conduct an assessment of who has benefited from mch's legislative advocacy work between 2012-2015.- mch recently expanded its tribal organizing program. New and deeper partnerships have been formed with tribal communities and organizations with culturally-specific programming for american indians. - over 550 people attended homeless day on the hill on march 15,2016.More than 600 people (housing service providers, managers, people experiencing homelessness, government employees) attended the mch annual conference in october 2016.
