These are a great alternative for the flat plates. The slot allow you to insert before or after you have ran your wire through your drilled holes.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: They serve a particular purpose but they're really good you can even put them around old work if you have space for the hammer these are great mind a big box was cheap and would recommend everybody have these available when you're doing this kind of work way nicer than putting in those 2x4-in cover plates

You need to drill 1inch holes for these. Best to place the metal protectors after wiring. Wood is just easier on the romex while pulling. Then you slide them over the wire and hammer them in. I use them everywhere for $0.30 each. Easier to do drywall than with the metal plates that stick out.

The description was for a 100 pack, but only one was sent. The product looks good and would function as intended. Hopefully if you order these you will receive the correct quantity.

As far as something so simple like this goes, it works great, just drill the hole the box says to drill and smack these guys in with a hammer and job done.My only gripe would be if they came in different sizes, I would love to protect the existing wire in my walls when I do work that brings down the sheetrock or drywall.. Sometimes the contractors just put the wire through the studs 1/2 an inch from the drywall, no idea how that passes code but it still happens never the less, so having some different sizes to fit what ever hole size they drilled would be nice. But overall this product does what it implies it does, and does it well, its a good feeling knowing I installed something up to code - and better than some home builders do.

Drilled 1' hole, hammered in sleeve and threaded wire through. I will say I wish they made 5/8' or even 1/2' versions, 1' seemed overkill for just one run of romex.
