I've owned a pair of these speakers for about 8 years now and use them occasionally for parties. They definitely shine outdoors and in larger areas. They are a midrange loudspeaker so if you're looking to pack some heavy bass, I'd suggest adding a subwoofer for the perfect trio. Most people however won't need a subwoofer as they are plenty loud. I was almost surprised at how loud these were outdoors, I brought them both to a block party and ended up putting one away because it was plenty loud with only one speaker.

The audio quality is very surprising if you have the right amp to push these. I am ashamed to admit I have speakers costing ten times these and I like the sound of these better. But you do need good equipment for these to sound their best. I am driving these with a Parasound halo p5 pre amp and Anthem audio amplifier. Pushing about 285 rms at 4 ohms. I bought 3 pairs when I got them on sale for $100 a piece. Currently I am running one pair and the others my boys are using. This series has been so successful, they have been out for over 10 yrs. My current pair have been running now for 11 yrs without any issues. I listen to them almost on a daily basis for hrs at a time. Since I have owned them I have tried out and resold at least 8 different PA pro speakers and none have matched the sound quality of these. To get the best sound remove the steel grills. Only complaint would be the cheap plasitic tops they use for poll mounting. Mine broke almost instantly with the pole going straight through them. Luckily no harm was done to the speakers. So I just replaced them with steel tops for pole mounting

With the right Amp these will shine...Bought these due to reviews saying they sounded good musically. I needed a pair of speakers to practice material, repeated recordings, of segments of songs , onto CD's for learning drum solo's , difficult sections etc. Had to have something fairly loud but not too big, so I wouldn't drown them out with drums. Reading info on DJ amps, crazy cheap, with huge , per ch. claims, I noticed 34;Humm34; issues, distortion rates and signal to noise rates which were really lousy. (audible) I decided to try home stereo amps first. I hooked them up to a Yamaha receiver rated 115W per side 8ohm and (4ohm rated)....not pretty,.. amp struggled, MTX's sounded pathetic. I had an old Class A/B, 2 Chan. Rotel Pre and Amp rated at 135 a side in 8ohm., to try as well. Hooked up MTX's and they came alive, and they sounded pretty darn good, clean, loud, perfect , especially at price point, a lot of bang for your buck. DJ's will need a sub, with them, but perfect for my needs, very clean sound at high volumes, musically pleasing. Can't tell on longevity, but build is solid, clean. Post and 1/434; plugs hook-up choice, is a nice as well. Reviews saying they didn't sound great, try changing your amp.. .

These arrived even faster than I thought they would, an awesome surprise. They are sturdy and sound great out in my workshop. I am not using them for gig work or a PA, they are for entertainment while I work on cars. They sound great, get loud, and so far I love them.
