Straight out of the box to the stove. This is my second piece of lodge. Picked up the first piece hot off the line well at the factory store I should say.

Quality is as expected from the brand. We went ahead and went through the seasoning process even though it claims to not need it. (We do this with any cast iron product). Heats evening, and holds heat perfectly. Love that this size is a little deeper than a skillet, but not quite a Dutch oven. That said, it also works well as a small Dutch oven. Lid fits securely.

I got my pan today and made a whole chicken in the oven. My husband even commented how good everything tastes cooked in cast iron. My dutch oven is on the way, cant wait to get that. I've read several people say lodge is bumpy and things stick. I say to them, I just dont have that issue, yes its bumpy but I can still cook an egg and not have it stick. It's all in the seasoning and letting it warm properly. I just need one more piece to complete my set. Thank you lodge for having a super product for us to enjoy

The Lodge 3-qt. "chicken fryer" is just what it should be: easy to use, easy to clean up, perfect for all kinds of things, especially meat recipes that call for a lot of liquid or many ingredients - like stews or pot roasts. We use it more often than our 5-qt. Dutch oven, which is too big for most everyday meals. This one goes in the oven, too, just like a Dutch oven but with a handy skillet handle. Cleanup with a long-handled brush under hot running water is simple. After the first few uses, you really don't need to re-season it very often, if ever. For young people new to cooking, I recommend this item along with 2 ordinary Lodge skillets (say, 9 and 10 inches), and a round Lodge griddle with handle (perfect for making pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches). These 4 pieces will take care of many cooking needs. For use amp; care, just Follow the Simple Directions provided, and don't overthink it. Never put cast iron in the dishwasher or the fridge. Wash and dry after each use. Lodge makes good stuff, and it will outlast you! I use my grandmother's 9-inch skillet nearly every day, and it's well over 100 years old - still works like new. P.S. - The deep skillet is too narrow at the bottom to fit more than 2 or 3 chicken pieces; and the idea of deep-fried chicken is not how I was taught to do it. I use a low, wide, 12-inch nonstick pan (much lighter than cast iron) when I feel like being Col. Sanders.

I have a few Lodge cast iron cookware, including the 8", 12-1/4" shallow skillets and THIS 10-1/2" deep skillet with lid. Over time, it dawned on me that all I really needed was this deep skillet. With its size and depth, there is almost nothing this skillet cannot do. You can cook an egg and some bacon in it in the morning (no need for the 8"), make some wonton soup in it for lunch (no need for a sauce pan), stir-fry some chicken in it for dinner (no need for a wok), cook up some really fancy dishes with it in the oven, etc. The lid itself is well made. It fits so nicely and its weight helps create a tight seal. I love this so much that I bought one for each of my children to take to college. If you are worried about how to clean, don't be. It's iron, so scrubbing it with soap and a stainless steel mesh scrubber is absolutely fine. Clean it, rinse it, dry it (on cooktop) and stow it away (in the oven itself if you are short in storage space). That's easy, isn't it? With those said, I'll end my review with a word of warning, this piece is pretty heavy. It might be heavier than you have imagined. Please use both hands for good measures when moving it around.

Bought this for camping on the campfire grills, great for making just about anything you can want. Soups, stews, frying fish, making biscuits, etc. Keep it well seasoned and it will work great every time

So. I got this for my wife.. She has never used a cast Iron Pot before.. It's weight is reassuring. It's handles do get a little warm tho. I'm glad i got the silicon pot holders for it. it cooks almost anything you put in it if it will fit. My wife uses propane in her country. she said medium heat/fire then you can lower the heat cause once it's warmed up it will keep and spread the heat through the whole pot.

I've used cast iron all my life. I even have some antique frying pans one that was my wife's grandmother's and I'm 60 years old she's 57 so you know it's an old pan. There's no telling how old it was when she got it. I'll repeat it again never use water on cast iron. All I do with my pain is scrape it out with a spatula. If I have any spots that look like then need a little bit more cleaning I use a chainmail scrubber made specifically forecast iron then I wipe it clean with a paper towel, put a little bit more oil on it, wipe it around with a paper towel and leave a little light oily film on it after each use. Lodge cast iron, the best cast iron made today, is great because it is preseasoned. I still season it again before first use with high heat cast iron seasoning oil. That makes a big difference because it makes the cast iron non-stick on the first use. I don't have to wait and use it several times for it to get better it's already better the first time I use it. I bought a large square cast iron front and paying back in 2020 with the tempered glass lid. It's never had water put on it and everybody thinks it's brand new every time I use it because it doesn't look like it's ever been used. All I've ever done is scrape out that any excess food then scrape the food off the bottom what little bit sticks and off any sides if it's stuck wipe it with a paper towel just like I said above it and reoil it a little bit. Next time I'm ready to use it it's ready to go. It just keeps getting better every time I use it. It is truly non-stick and I can't say enough good about it. God Bless You and You'uns Jimmy in NC....

Really liked the size of the pan - tall enough not to do much splattering.

Everything I have cooked has turned out great in this pan. It is very heavy, like a old traditional cast iron frypan.

Cast iron; heavy. And that was expected. Anything I've cooked in it came out tasting great. It's just something about frying foods in this skillet that gives the food a better flavor. Need to " dress" the skillet each time it's used.

I've been so happy with this combo pan. So far, I've only used it for sourdough bread making (perfection!), amd it's been perfect. 10/10, definitely recommend!
