I use and like most DeWalt products, I do not like this planer. It bogs down really easily or the rollers begin slipping. If you take a lot of fine cuts on a relatively smooth surface starting out it does pretty well. If the surface if even a little uneven you have to trim very little with each pass. I had a WEN planer prior to this and really thought of this as an upgrade, not so much. The WEN could and would chew through just about anything and you didn’t have to baby it. Mind you I’m not trying to mill a tree with three passes, but it was robust. If you use this I highly recommend a dust collection system. Otherwise you will have wood shavings all over your shop. This model has some things that I like. A gauge to show you how much you are about to feed. Two speeds for rough and finer cutting. I like the height adjustment controls. The snipe seems less with the DeWalt. Feed tables are better. Ideally I wish I had the WEN back but needing two planers for your work seems wasteful. If I had to choose only one, sadly, I would go with the WEN. Sorry DeWalt, I like most of your products, but not this one.

Great planer, no problems at all. I take a maximum of 1/32 and good results, get the base it's worth the extra $150

Easy to setup. Cuts well when not forced. Does excellent job so far.

Easy to use, very little assembly required. If you want a flat board this will do it. Handles hardwoods easily.

Very good product and probably the best out there for home woodworking. The only negative is the noise which is very very loud but it is very accurate and the wood comes out very smooth. Very happy with this product.

This planer DOES cut very nicely. However there are a couple things I wish I would have known before dropping money on it. So I will share with you.1) this planer does not like the cold. The feed rollers slip when my garage falls below about 55 degrees. Which is obviously annoying, busy it also leaves black streaks on the wood. Also means working in the winter will be frustrating.2) this things SPEWS shavings. I’m talking 10 feet without a hose on it. It does not need the assistance of a vacuum. A good collection system is a must. Another thing I didn’t bargain for when buying this.

Great value for the money. Setup in minutes, great results right out of the box. Noise levels are as expected, I wear ear protection to help. Great tool!

Kept kicking out. Poor design. Overoad/rest is included in unit, heat builds up from motor and causes it to kick out. I moved the reset to the outside of unit and it has not stopped yet. I was having to hold a air hose on the button to keep it running. I'm a industrial electrician by trade

So far there are zero dislikes. I have used my planer to prepare maple and pine boards. It leaves a very smooth surface with minimal snipe.I bought this based on reviews here and other places online. I can see they were accurate. You will not regret choosing this planer over a cheaper one.

1000 LF cherry didn't stand a chance. Great performance

Overall the planer is excellent. But the infeed and outfeed tables are really greasy, especially compared to the mirror finish on the planer bed. Also, the outfeed table does not fold up enough to stay up. So if you buy one, also get a 1ft bungee cord to hook it to the infeed table to keep them folded up when not in use.

It's loud but most planers are. Accuracy is greatly issues

It is missing the spare blades. I have all original packaging and looked through it all. Other than that it’s a fine piece of equipment.

This planer had good reviews and many YouTubers have it so I bought it. It seems to work fine, but does take some practice. I watched Youtube videos to understand features and how it works. I don't know if sniping occurs with all planers but this one leaves a significant snipe. This requires planing more length than needed so the sniped part can be cut off.

Best planer for the money

Very smooth cuts right out of the box. I recommend watching allot of YouTube videos on how to setup and operate it. Fast and simple assembly. I tried it with and without dust collection. You really want to have some sort of dust collection. Highly recommend this tool.

Planner works great and all. Only complints i have are that 1) a rigid shopvac does not connect to the dust port, so i had to duct tape mine until i got a 3rd party adraptor. 2) the metal wings i got are weak, the one i have in the front wraped to make it bow so now i get snipe in the front of my boards since i cant level the wraped wing. 3) i never got the dust shute that it shows in the listing.

I haven't actually used it yet, but I'm hopeful it's good. My only problem is I paid for a brand new planer and got one that was apparently used instead because the blades on it was dirty and there was sawdust inside of it.
