Mission: TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE OPTIMAL DEVELOPMENT AND WELL BEING OF YOUTH AND ADULTS WHO HAVE PRIMARY PHYSICAL OR VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS THROUGH THE PROVISION OF RECREATIONAL AND COMPETITIVE SPORTS AND FITNESS OPPORTUNITIES.

Programs: Goals
The GLASA Activity and Wellness program will provide education on adaptive sports and awareness of opportunities for activity to children and adults with a physical/visual impairment and their families to promote wellness and, for those who need it, combat obesity.
Objectives
The program will:
(1) Identify and educate the general public and physically/visually impaired who may not be physically active and/or not involved in an athletic program on the health benefits of physical activity/sports participation and provide an opportunity to enroll in a GLASA adaptive program.
(2) Provide GLASA program participants (including clients, coaches, volunteers) the opportunity to develop their own personal health/fitness goals and create awareness of current status by assessing and establishing fitness levels.
Activities
1.Present information on adaptive sports and benefits and GLASA programs to disabled and able-body community members through written and verbal communication/presentations, and website.
-Provide opportunity for prospective participants to sign up for adaptive sports programs
2.Discuss fitness goals and current fitness levels with participant
-Administer Brockport Physical Fitness Test and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale
-Compile results into computer program to analyze data
-Discuss results with participant
-Develop plan to assist participant in ongoing wellness steps to meet fitness goals
