I had a pair of 30-year-old shelf speakers (AR18) that were in the back of my closet that needed new drivers and these fit perfectly sound great! I did try to find "Originals" but couldn't, so I went with these instead and was very pleased with the end result.

Replaced 50 year old acoustic suspension full range drivers with these for practically nothing. In a small sealed box (the old Lafayette Criterion 25 ancient but solidly built box around .75 cubic foot) these sound so much nicer than the original. To the ear, they're balanced throughout audio frequencies right up to mid treble, where they will drop off a bit - but less so that I though. They do lack the ability to provide detailed musicality kind of sound so for the critical listener, I'd say definitely do not bother with these. But for casual listening, background music, or vocals these are ok.

I ordered this as a replacement speaker for an old radio. I only needed one. After ordering it, I saw a couple of places in the description that made it sound like it was going to be a pair of speakers. It's not. It's a single speaker. And a pretty nice one too. It was packed like others have said--a plastic bag inside a cardboard box, but mine arrived in perfect shape. At any rate, it's a really decent speaker for the price, but ignore anything in the description that says "two pieces" or anything like that. I'm happy.
