Programs: Our mission is to prevent cruelty to animals, to relieve suffering among animals, and to promote the extension of humane education, and to aid in finding suitable placement for homeless animals. Finney County Humane Society (FCHS) was formally established on December 3,1997, by a group of community members who wanted to help the local pets not fall to euthanasia due to lack of funding, lack of compassion. Over the years these women, raised money through garage sales, bake sales, and so many more fundraisers in our town. In 2016 FCHS offered to help the local police department, and the City with the animal pound. FCHS offered to of the Finney County pound and with help from the City & County funding we were able to move in and run the local animal pound. FCHS has changed the pound with high euthanasia into a shelter with little to no euthanasia. FCHS fully staffs and runs the shelter, that houses animals brought in by animal control(city & county), and animals surrendered by owners. The shelter staff provides for medical care, annual pet licensure, foster homes, and animal adoptions. FCHS also has runs a successful volunteer program, foster program and transport program. The staff also provide daily animal care at the animal shelter. Volunteer Programs: Drivers for rescue transports, volunteers to help with fund-raising, and volunteers help at adoption events, daily care at the shelter, medical events for the community, TNR programs, and cleaning at the shelter. The society also conducts low cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics for the general public at a discounted rate. Volunteers and staff provide education about pet care by doing presentations at local schools, service clubs, and other organizations, as well as monthly live videos "Tune in Tuesdays". We work hard to find homes for unwanted animals, animals that are strays, surrendered, born in our care. These homes might be local, might be in a different state, and might be through our transport teams all over the United States.
