Mission: The mission of the EVTA is to*provide free tutoring/mentoring support to children in financial need in a rural area where the child poverty rate hovers close to 30%. *provide tutoring to children in rural areas requesting support on a sliding fee scale, based on financial need. *help reduce the high school drop out rate by helping rural students become proficient readers and acquire foundational math skills in the primary years. *strengthen the quality of education by providing trained tutors to rural schools and programs between Taos and Velarde. *help dyslexic and other learning disabled students succeed by training tutors to provide specialized support. High Quality of Service: EVTA is dedicated to providing high quality training to our tutors so they may be able to meet any student's academic needs. Empowerment: Empower local children so they may achieve their full potential as human beings, responsible parents, and future leaders of our society. Community: EVTA partners with schools, libraries, and local programs to provide tutoring services to local children between Taos and Velarde.
Results: 85% of students show academic improvement in the area in which they are being tutored (2018-2019 standardized testing, curriculum testing)84% of clients and stakeholders felt that students' needs were being met (survey monkey survey to clients, beneficiaries)
Target demographics: high priority children with multiple vulnerability factors
Direct beneficiaries per year: 150 students (total enrollment spring 2020 to spring 2021--all programs)- 6 school sites and 1 library site
Geographic areas served: k-8 schools in Rio Arriba and Taos County in Northern New Mexico
