This durable PVC MPT x FPT Reducing Bushing has larger male threads reducing to smaller size female threads. Please note, some styles and sizes are schedule 40 and some are schedule 80. Threads are all the same IPS (iron pipe size) so are compatible with other IPS and NPT threaded fittings of the same nominal size. Please Note: White Schedule 80 PVC sometimes sold as Schedule 40 PVC FittingsIn the PVC industry, the more common Schedule 40 fittings are usually white, while Schedule 80 fittings are gray. The main difference between the two schedule ratings is Schedule 80 has an increased wall thickness and socket depth. The result is a higher pressure rating and better burst rating.In situations where fitting applications are under higher stress, some manufacturers make white Schedule 80 fittings and sell them as Schedule 40. The most common fittings in this situation are reducing bushings, female adapters, and caps.However, the fittings are compatible with Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 pipes as the outside diameter of the pipes are the same.
