We are trying everything to get rustoleum deck restore off our deck. I was reallllly hoping this was the answer. All it did was make a gummy mess on what did scrape up.

I tried this on a deck with a single coat of fading, peeling white paint and it worked but it took a long time and didn't remove (or help remove) 100 of the paint. Using this to strip an entire deck would be an exercise in futility. I did use it on a smaller project -- refinishing an old bench someone painted -- and was happier with the results in that application

I used or try to use this deck coating remover to remove some thick paint on my deck. This product did work but after multiple coats, and you have to cover it in plastic in order for the gel not to dry out too quickly it's not for me. Personally, I considered this to not only be to time consuming but also a hassle so I just ran my boards through a planner instead. If you have the time and patience and don't want to remove your deck boards then this might be a good option for you.

I tried to use this to remove the old paint off of my wooden door for repainting, but it took much longer than expected. Based on the instructions, the biggest obstacle was covering the area with a film after applying the gel to prevent it from drying up before it could work. This seems very difficult in an outdoor environment, especially in the summer. Furthermore, the set time for the gel to work is anywhere from 30 minutes to over 4 hours based on the type of coating, according to the instructions. I had some patience to follow the instructions in the beginning of the project and found the result was acceptable at most. I still had to manually scrape off the old paint for a thorough job. Eventually, I just sanded down the old paint using a portable drill and sand paper, which was much faster and less messy.

We needed to strip the old layers of coating off of our small deck and this product caught my eye. I followed the instructions and found that the product did an excellent job on most of the surface. It is possible that part of the wood was a different grade or porosity than the remainder, but it ended up with some patchy areas on one of the boards. Overall, I was able to remove the majority of the previous coating and application of new protectant went smoothly with no evidence of any issue with unremoved material. Nonetheless, I am pleased to recommend this product for your use!

This remover might be great for light paint jobs, but it's certainly not for heavy work. We have a dock that has a layer of paint (one single layer) and this stuff won't remove the one layer. You have to apply it and wait 30 minutes to four hours. If it gets dry, it won't work. The ingredients are listed on the package, for easy reference.

I tried to use it on Behr deck coverbasically a paint on my deck. It loosens some of the old paint but even that paint that loosened needed a lot of hard scraping. It also turned any bare wood black. I doubt if I will continue to use it.

Unfortunately I only got mediocre results using this to remove 20 year old white paint on my deck railings. I had been using a belt sander but it was difficult to sand the vertical 1"x1" ballisters. I followed the instructions and expected the paint to just melt off the wood, but I had to do 2-3 applications and still ended up having to use a scraper.
