Mission: "Feeding children, souls and Empowering the Community with His love" We aim to build a unified community within Berkeley and Jefferson counties by partnering with individuals, churches and businesses to help relieve the food insecurity within those counties.
Results: This mission is being carried out by two ministries under CCM including Kidz Power Pacs (KPP) and a host site for King Foods, a discounted food ministry. CCM’s goals include the following: to continue bringing awareness of the community’s hunger needs; to educate on the trials and burdens the children and families face; to rid the stigma that poverty is only a low income issue, but actually can be due to unforeseen life circumstances. Berkeley County's food insecurity rate is currently 14.2%, while Jefferson County's food insecurity rate is 11.6%. As CCM has been feeding food deprived children for 10 years and has distributed over 2.5 million meals to the hungry children, the most valued anticipated impact continues to be restoring hope in the eyes, ears, hearts and souls of the children who have been blessed and the community that made it possible. When a child is fed and the hunger pains subside a glimmer of hope emerges. They see and feel that someone cares about what they are going through and what their family is facing. When hunger is subsided and hope is given it affects not only their mood but the possibilities of accomplishing goals. This is a snowball effect: child's behavior improves, classroom atmosphere improves, attendance improves, teachers and school staff morale improves, grades improve, testing scores improve, home life atmosphere and stress improve, and a hopeful future becomes possible. All of this benefits the community as a whole. Together we are better!
Target demographics: Feed hungry children, families and unify our communities
Direct beneficiaries per year: Feed 900 children weekly through the regular school year, feed 246 children through the summer months, supplied school supplies and discounted food boxes to help get more food into the homes throughout our counties.
Geographic areas served: Berkeley County and Jefferson County of West Virginia
